Technically a building is just materials that are placed one on top of the other. However, I wanted the nature center to stand greater than just a building. I wanted it to develop a voice and speak to its surrounding and to its viewers. A voice of comfort, peace and of love that bring life to the community of Red Hook. In this attempt I originally chose the third hybrid model. However, a charm was missing in this model.  It was lacked the connection that brought the pieces together. My professor advised me to think about a different model. The third model was simply not enough. I reflected on the hybrid models and thought deeply about the environment of Red Hook. I wanted a model which will embrace the romance of Red Hook and will provide warmth to its visitors. Lastly, I chose the second model because of its simplicity and the connection which spoke to both Red Hook and its visitors.

  3. I appreciate your process through your model and plans. This is a great starte and headed in a ver interesting direction. I would suggest that you take time and consider the connection between your plans and your elevation of the facade. Consider the interplay of interior and exterior spaces and the connection with the street passerby and the interior explorer.

  4. The model is an amazing start but the facade seems a bit plain. Maybe by making the facade a bit more structural or skeleton-like, it would really tie it more to your model but overall a really great design.

  5. I will love to see some sections on how exactly i will experience this building once i am inside. The double, triple height spaces or whatever your plans have.

    Best of luck.

  6. I think you're off to a great start but I dont think you should stay fixed on that design. Definitely develop it further to communicate your concept better.

    Best of luck.
